Decoating
You know it, we know it, everyone knows it: decoating is part of coating tools! Proper decoating is an important prerequisite for high-quality recoating.
Decoating should be economical, safe and environmentally friendly and must not damage the components. At GPA, we use two processes: the wet-chemical process for all titanium-based coatings and the electrolysis process for chromium-based PVD coatings.
Polishing
This is still real manual work! For highly stressed functional tool surfaces, we recommend polishing before coating. We have optimized the polishing process, which we carry out almost exclusively by hand, for subsequent PVD coating. This also means that we can measure and evaluate the roughness profile before and after polishing in-house.
Defined polishes in the functional area of tools have become indispensable in many cases. The aim of polishing is to improve the microgeometry of the functional surface. The reduction in surface roughness reduces the specific surface pressure when using tools and improves demoldability in plastics processing.
The coating is used in forming processes – i.e. bending, drawing, embossing – and can be selectively decoated quickly and easily.
Regrinding
The efficiency of any coating always depends on the correct tool preparation and surface finish. This is why the regrinding of cutting tools is also part of our all-round service. We work together with competent grinding shops that grind and deburr your tools on state-of-the-art CNC machines before recoating them.
Highest quality, but dalli? Let’s do it. We can realize the regrinding and recoating of DIN and special tools up to highly complex geometries in the shortest possible time.
